Art Club members are attracting a lot of attention with their innovative artwork, which is now regularly exhibited in the galleries. Art Club tutors Lisa Hancock and Inge-Lise Greaves are keeping these young artists busy with a range of new activities that really develops their skills. Using our own exhibition programme as a starting point as well as looking at the exciting work of other contemporary artists, they are coming up with all sorts of ideas and projects individually and as a group. If you think this sounds like fun and you want your art to have the 'wow' factor, then join Art Club and make friends.

16+

This informal series of Sunday studio days concentrates on the 'cutting edge'! Mature students from 16 - 70 are encouraged to throw caution to the wind and experiment with installation work, using a range of simple materials as diverse as rice, candles, envelopes, teabags, a dog-eared paperback and a good sprinkling of lateral thinking. With input from a range of visiting installation and performance artists and lots of practical tasks this is an excellent introduction to site-specific and installation work. And later in the year, the participants will be invited to respond to the space and their course by installing some site-specific work of their own across the gallery spaces.

No previous art experience is necessary. Some materials provided. Just bring a packed lunch and an open mind!

Suitable for students preparing portfolios for BA Fine Art Courses.

WHAT A LOAD OF JUNK!
Family Workshop
Shakespeare Barn
19 February

Artist Kevin Lee, whose work is being exhibited in the exhibition 'Warehouse on the Wash' will be running this workshop for creative families who want to spend the day together making something out of nothing and having fun! Choose from a pile of apparently 'unpromising' found objects and recycled materials, mostly washed up from the sea, learn how to put them together and end up with a masterpiece! It's all in day's work for Kevin and now you too can come up with a rakish robot, a towering totem pole, a manic mask…the world's your oyster
